These 8 week workshops are intended for artists who already have some practical painting skills and experience but feel you would benefit from regular professional tuition to help you develop your own subjects and ideas alongside other painters.

Working from observation, photographic or other references, you will be given individual guidance to help you develop your own painting practice. The sessions are spaced fortnightly to allow time to work further on your paintings on your own.

There will also be excellent opportunity for discussion and group analysis, and expert advice on materials and working methods.

Suggested Materials

Paints: Oils or acrylics: titanium white, cadmium yellow pale, yellow ochre, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, prussian blue, burnt sienna, raw umber, viridian

Brushes: Hog bristle for oils, synthetic for acrylics- a variety of sizes and shapes

Supports: Primed painting boards or canvases

Sundries: Oils: a large, flat mixing palette (approx 11”x 16”, melamine, or a disposable palette), palette knife, old rags, LOW ODOUR SOLVENT and jar, refined linseed oil and small jar/dipper, 

Acrylics: a large, flat mixing palette, jars and rags

*Booking conditions: Places are limited to 12 students per workshop. Allocation will take place on a first come first served basis, subject to receipt of full non-transferable and non-refundable payment. Nottingham Art Studio reserves the right to withdraw the course. In this eventuality, you will be notified and fully refunded. No refunds can be given for any sessions not attended.
